Government trims petrol by Rs0.50 and diesel by Rs0.19; new rates take effect Aug 28

The federal government has cut petrol prices by Rs0.50 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs0.19 per litre, bringing petrol to Rs342.60/litre and HSD to Rs371.61/litre. The Petroleum Division notification says the revision is effective Aug 28. The move comes amid a period of price volatility attributed by officials to tensions in the Middle East and follows earlier policy changes giving OGRA a role in daily price-setting.
