Inspector General of Police Captain (retd) Liaqat Ali Malik warned citizens in Azad Kashmir against spreading disinformation and false content generated by artificial intelligence, emphasizing the importance of relying on official sources for accurate information.
Malik highlighted that all entry points into AJK remained open to all types of traffic, including vehicles carrying essential commodities. He dismissed reports suggesting otherwise, stating that law enforcement agencies were actively clearing roads to facilitate commuters and maintain security within established protocols.
The IGP also accused activists affiliated with the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) of erecting barriers at some locations and attacking or seizing goods-laden trucks. Despite these incidents, he maintained that police were not obstructing any traffic entering AJK, including those carrying essential goods and public transport vehicles.
Malik underscored the government’s stance against such actions by referring to recent clarifications made during a press conference on June 23, stating that both he and Chief Secretary Khushal Khan had emphatically stated police were not impeding any traffic. He also highlighted the dissemination of official information through the Public Information Department’s fact-checking platform on X.
Malik emphasized the need for media organizations to verify reports related to AJK Police with the force’s public relations office before broadcasting them, and advised against airing unverified material from anonymous social media accounts. This stance aims to combat disinformation and AI-generated content in a complex security environment.
