Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday warned that the visa agent mafia, driven by greed, is jeopardizing the future of innocent Pakistanis and tarnishing the country’s reputation. He said agents luring people abroad with false job promises would face no leniency.
The minister conducted a surprise two-hour visit to Islamabad International Airport, inspecting immigration procedures, staff presence, and passenger services. He spoke directly to travelers to hear their experiences and complaints.
Addressing a complaint from November 7 regarding insufficient immigration staff, Naqvi ordered an immediate inquiry and instructed authorities to review CCTV footage to prevent such issues in the future. He directed officials to avoid unnecessary delays for passengers with valid travel documents while emphasizing strict action against those using fake papers or illegal means to travel.
Naqvi stressed that the visa agent mafia exploits innocent citizens with fraudulent job offers abroad. He ordered relevant authorities to make the airport’s immigration system more efficient, transparent, and passenger-friendly, ensuring both Pakistan’s image and travelers’ trust are protected.
