A quadcopter that had flown from an unknown origin crashed onto the rooftop of a house situated in Model Town Humak, Islamabad. A resident reported the incident to police who arrived at the scene and secured the area before confiscating the device.
Police efforts are ongoing to determine where the drone was launched from and identify those who operated it. This comes after security sources disclosed that rudimentary drones were intercepted in Rawalpindi earlier this year, with no reported casualties or damage.
In February, authorities issued a nationwide ban on flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) following concerns about their use by the Afghan Taliban. The ban extended to all regions except for law enforcement agencies and Islamabad’s administration.
