A police encounter resulted in the death of the prime suspect accused of killing a seven-year-old girl, according to Sargodha Regional Police Officer Shahzad Asif Khan. The victim was found dead in a shop on Monday after her father reported she had gone there to buy items.
The suspect and at least three others were initially arrested for attempting to rape the child before killing her. However, he allegedly escaped custody and his accomplices shot him during an encounter with CCD police early Wednesday morning. Details about how the suspect eluded capture remain unclear.
Three other suspects in the case are still in police custody, as confirmed by Sargodha District Police Officer Sohaib Ashraf. The CCD has registered multiple FIRs, including one detailing the escape of the prime suspect and invoking various PPC sections related to attempted murder, assault, and resisting arrest.
