A French climber named Guillaume Pierrel lost his life after being hit by a snow avalanche while attempting to scale the steep K-6 peak, which reaches an altitude of 7,282 meters. This tragic incident occurred within Gilgit-Baltistan’s Ghanche district in northern Pakistan.
Many climbers aim to summit prestigious peaks such as K2 and Nanga Parbat, but rough terrain and harsh weather conditions often result in fatalities and injuries. Recently, a foreign climbing team consisting of 41-year-old Pierrel from France, along with Boris Jule from France and Christina Maria from Switzerland, attempted to reach the summit.
The team was on their way during their expedition when an avalanche hit them at approximately 5,000 meters above sea level. Pierrel tragically died in the spot where the avalanche struck, while the other two climbers managed to remain safe, according to tour operator Ishaq Ali.
