As many as 14 under-trial prisoners escaped from a prisoner van while being transported to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on Monday. The escapees overpowered security guards, prompting police to launch an investigation and search operation.
A statement by the Rawalpindi Police spokesperson revealed that four of the escaped individuals had been apprehended during the operation. Police teams were still searching for the remaining suspects, who are accused in cases currently under trial.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Sihala police station in Islamabad district and was coordinated with relevant authorities. The initial investigation suggested a violent altercation broke out among the prisoners inside the van before they escaped.
