QUETTA: A total of 245 graduating students were awarded their degrees, while 14 received gold medals and another 14 were presented badges of honour at the second convocation of Government Girls Degree College, Quetta Cantt, on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, who awarded the degrees, stressed that women’s education must go hand in hand with economic empowerment to ensure their meaningful role in society, saying that they were the true guarantors of a bright future.
He added that these ceremonies were not only significant milestones for graduating students, but also moments of pride and joy for their parents as well as teachers.
He announced the provision of two buses for students, a coaster for teachers, and a cash grant of Rs200,000 for the college band. He also announced a tea party for all graduating students at the Governor House in Quetta.
