Telenor Pakistan has officially merged with Ufone into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) starting from Wednesday, following the final statutory approval granted by the Islamabad High Court. Telenor Pakistan no longer exists as a separate legal entity, and this merger signifies a major milestone in Pakistan’s telecommunications industry.
As of the end of May 2026, there were over 206 million mobile subscribers in Pakistan, with Jazz leading the market share at 36.42%, followed by Zong at 26.62%. The combined entity now holds a significant 35.91% of total subscriptions.
A senior executive from Ufone warned that around four million subscribers could potentially switch networks in the coming months due to the full integration of Telenor and Ufone operations. This move is expected to streamline the telecom landscape, with both companies’ frequencies now operating on a single network in cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, and others.
Ufone has begun integrating the billing mechanisms, balance loading, and SIM migration processes for customers of both Telenor and Ufone. The company assured continuity of service and access to enhanced connectivity during this transition period. PTCL President & CEO Hatem Bamatraf emphasized that this merger will result in a more comprehensive telecom entity with improved infrastructure, spectrum, and investment opportunities across the country.
