Traders and transporters in Muzaffarabad announced that markets and public transport would resume normal operations from Sunday. They distanced themselves from the recently proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), alleging that the movement had deviated from its original objectives after June 9, focusing on political and constitutional agendas instead of their mandates.
At a joint press conference, representatives of traders’ bodies and transporters’ unions emphasized the importance of resolving outstanding issues through dialogue. They called for the reopening of businesses and the restoration of internet services to facilitate commercial activity.
The announcement was welcomed by some in Muzaffarabad, leading to the reopening of shops in several neighborhoods on Saturday afternoon, though business activity remained limited in many areas.
