Multiple cities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, experienced tremors on Saturday evening following earthquakes in Balochistan earlier that day.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck at 6:35 PM local time, centered in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The PDMA noted these tremors were felt in various cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Shangla, Swat, Chakwal, Abbottabad, Taxila, Haripur, and Buner.
Simultaneously, Balochistan experienced three earthquakes on the same day. The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority reported that tremors were felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Attock. Officials from Balochistan indicated at least three individuals suffered injuries after two major quakes (5.2 and 4.3 magnitude) hit various parts of their province, with one additional 4.2-magnitude earthquake occurring later in the evening.
