Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Friday that 22 Iranian crew members from a tanker seized by the United States have arrived in Pakistan.
The seizure occurred during a naval blockade imposed by Washington after the start of tensions between the US and Iran, following which they targeted oil tankers entering or leaving Iranian ports. The M/T Davina was boarded overnight by American forces on April 13.
On X, Dar highlighted that the crew members served aboard the Davina and noted: ‘Arrangements are being finalized in collaboration with Iranian missions to facilitate their safe return.’ He added that close ties were maintained throughout this process with both US and Iranian authorities.
This is the fourth group of Iranian crew members repatriated by Pakistan over the last two months, assisting in the return of over 70 individuals, including today’s group of 22. The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Tehran for entrusting Pakistan to manage their safe passage back home.
