The Islamabad High Court (IHC) delayed delivering its verdict on petitions challenging the alleged solitary confinement of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. Earlier, a day prior, the IHC allowed two petitions questioning solitary confinement without addressing their legal validity.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro reserved orders after both sides presented arguments. Counsel Salman Safdar for the petitioners indicated he would focus on Mubashara Maneka’s case due to upcoming commitments, while Justice Soomro humorously acknowledged sacrifices made by the court.
Safdar highlighted that the LHC and IHC previously referred to the Begum Shamim Afridi case when dealing with solitary confinement issues. He also stressed that the NAB had not specifically requested relief regarding solitary confinement in earlier proceedings, emphasizing it was referenced only as background information for applications related to sentence suspension.
