The Pakistan Navy has welcomed the first Hangor-class submarine to Karachi Port, which is a significant step in its modernization efforts and strengthens military ties with China. The vessel, equipped with advanced combat systems and stealth features, will bolster naval capabilities.
The submarine’s arrival was celebrated with a traditional welcome ceremony attended by Pakistani Navy officers, personnel, and the families of the crew. Cadets from the Pakistan Naval Academy also presented a ceremonial salute, including a fly-past by PN Z9EC helicopters.
Hangor holds historical importance in Pakistan’s naval history, as it sank an Indian frigate during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The navy plans to introduce eight Hangor-Class submarines into service.
