The Permanent Mission of Pakistan and the United Nations Group of Friends on Viral Hepatitis co-hosted a briefing during the UN High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS. The meeting brought together officials, diplomats, and experts to discuss hepatitis elimination.
According to new WHO data, Pakistan has launched its Prime Minister’s Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C with a $250 million investment from both Islamabad and the World Health Organization (WHO). The program aims to eradicate Hepatitis C by 2030 by providing free screenings, diagnoses, and treatments across the country.
The National Task Force, overseen by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, includes experts in public health, clinicians, researchers, and government officials. Ambassador Jadoon highlighted the task force’s commitment to a science-based approach for hepatitis elimination.
